Project 2A Part 1: Hearts Mansion

After completing our Project 1, Mr Martin gave out part 1 of our task for Project 2A. For this particular task, we have to take pictures of ourselves and edit them into the hearts mansion picture that was provided to us with the use of Adobe Photoshop. The picture below shows the hearts mansion picture that we have to edit ourselves into.

Figure 4.1 Hearts Mansion Image

Before editing myself into the hearts mansion image, I obviously had to a picture of myself. For my attire, I decided on something that isn't too bright yet still isn't too dull.

After multiple photo taking, there were 5 poses out of all the pictures I took that I really liked. Below are the top 5 pictures that I really liked.

With my chosen top 5 pictures I decided to get opinions from my family members as to which of the pictures looked the best and they all collectively agreed that I should chose the 5th one.

After finally deciding which of the photos I wanted to use, I decided to start the editing process in Adobe Photoshop. The cropping process didn't really take that long as I could just use the quick selection tool to select the areas I wanted. I realized that the process didn't take that long is because my photo background was purely plain.

After cropping out the parts of the image I wanted, I began the editing process. Below are steps that I did for the editing process in Adobe Photoshop.

Project 2A Part 2: Recolouring

For this task, we are required to choose one of the black and white photos that are provided to us and recolour them by using the method we have learnt through doing the previous exercise.

After looking over the photo options, I decided to go with the following picture:

With my chosen black and white photo, I decided to look for reference pictures that I could use to do the recolouring process. The pictures below are the ones I used to recolour my chosen black and white photo (Figure 6.2).

Project 2B: Poster Design
In our second part of our Project 2, we are required to create a PSA (Public Service Announcement) with a given topic by Mr Martin. So our given topic by Mr Martin is "How Has Covid 19 Pandemic Affected Mental Health?".

Part 1: Research

Before I started doing an in depth research for my given topic I decided to reflect on myself on how has Covid 19 affected me since I am part of the problem. As I reflected on myself I found that this pandemic as effected me really hard. I found that at times I feel like abandoning the given work even though I know the future consequences of my current action. I'd lose all my sense of motivation to complete my work. I found that I even had the sense of loneliness because I'm usually used to walking to campus and meeting people so once the pandemic hit I found it hard to adapt to the environment because I usually like working with people.

After doing a self reflection on myself I decided to do some research on what other college experienced during the pandemic while having their online classes. I found that they went through similar things as to I did

Part 2: Sketches/Ideation

After doing some research, I started looking into what kind of posters that I wanted to do. Below are some posters that caught my attention. (Figure 7.1, 7.2, 7.3)

With my chosen posters, I started sketching out ideas for my PSA poster and the below pictures are my sketches.

Figure 7.4 Idea Sketch 1

Figure 7.5 Idea Sketch 2

After looking at my 2 sketch designs, I still wasn't too satisfied with the sketch so I attempted on combining my first and second sketch.

Figure 7.6 Digitized sketch

After combining my first and sketch, I was actually quite happy how it turned out and thought of going forward with this as my poster design.

Part 3: Digitizing Process

Before beginning the digitizing process, I deiced to start of by taking photos of myself posing like the girl in the center of my poster. Below are some poses that I took for the poster.

Figure 8.1 Pose 1

Figure 8.2 Pose 2

Figure 8.3 Pose 3

After I was satisfied with the pictures I took, I decided to look over again which of the three poses looked the best and thought that I'd use the second pose (Figure 8.2) for my poster and started cropping my picture in Adobe Photoshop.

Figure 8.3 Picture Cropping

After cropping out my photo, I decided to work on my poster design based off the digitized sketch that I have created (Figure 7.6). The picture below is my first attempt at my poster

Figure 8.4 First Poster Design Attempt

While looking at my first poster design attempt, I felt that the background was empty. I decided to look for a suitable background that would suit my poster design. With a background that I found I decided to amend my poster and below are the results of the updated poster design.

Figure 8.5 Updated Poster Design

After Mr Martin looked over and gave feedback to my poster design, I decided to make some minor amendments to them. Below is the newer version of my poster design after Mr Martin gave feedback on it.
As I have completed the minor adjustments to the poster, I really liked how it looked and turned out so I decided to submit the following poster (Figure 8.5) as my final poster design. Below is my final poster design and a description behind my poster design.

Figure 8.5 Final and Updated Poster Design

Description:
In my PSA poster, I’m trying to showcase what most students feel when they were stuck in the house during the covid-19 pandemic. They have a sense of loss as to what they are feeling as they are stuck at their individual homes.

FEEDBACK

2B:
Week 9
I showed Mr Martin my poster design. He said that the overall poster design is great just that I should change the fonts. They don't match the design of the poster. The bottom text is a bit too big and the title is too close to the edge.

REFLECTION

For 2A part 1, I honestly thought that the editing process wasn't as hard as I imagined to be. I realized that actually the photo taking process took the longer time this is because I would rarely take photos of myself for fun or as a hobby but I'm glad that the photo I took turned out great and the final work looked nice.

As for 2A part 2, I found this to be quite interesting. I really enjoyed the process of doing the recolouring of the pictures.

For 2B, I found this task to be an interesting task as well as the topic for creating the poster quite relates to me. Even though I had some troubles trying to complete my poster design, I was happy how the final design turned out.
