Task 1: Proposal

In this task we are required to choose an existing app we find that the user experience or the app layout look is not satisfactory to users and redesign the app to make it look better. The theme of the chosen app must fall under the category of Lifestyle. We then must come up with a proposal document including:

  • A description of how the current app is,
  • Our goals and objectives to improve it
  • Methods of how we are going to get outside feedback from users to make the app better
With the category of Lifestyle given, the app choices are very big, so I decided to first scroll through the downloaded apps in my phone to see if there are any interesting apps I could work with.

After scrolling through the downloaded apps in my phone I have come to realize that there aren't any interesting apps that I could work with or the apps that are in my phone are too complex to come up with a redesign.

I then went to my google play store and looked through under the Lifestyle category to find some apps that I feel would be interesting to choose for this task.

After look through a lot of apps in the google play store I narrowed down to 3 apps that I find would be interesting to work with:

FEEDBACK

Week 2

General Feedback:
The app that we choose should have a primary goal on what its purpose is.

Week 4

General Feedback:
Mr Shamsul looked over the app that I have chosen

Specific Feedback:
Mr Shamsul gave the green light on my chosen app to redesign. He even gave some ideas for what I could do to redesign the app:

Home Screen:
- Instead of having the buttons go to the next screen and appear on the bottom of the page, he suggested that maybe the app could have a floating icon appear on the bottom right of the screen when the user is scrolling through the page.

- Instead of reusing the promotional banners in the app, I may come up with my own new ones.

He even mentioned that some of the designs of the app screen don't need a redesign and could be reused.
